It has been fascinating for me to watch the company grow and adapt over the past 10 years or so. They didn't do biologicals at all, in the old days.
The lab notebook is especially important in industrial settings, where it is a legal document. Think of it as similar to charting in a hospital. You can learn how to do it easily--it's really just a set of rules that mostly will seem like common sense to you. I bet you can find some good guides on the web, even. There used to be a guy (in Minnesota, actually) who taught his "analytical chemistry" course as though it was a business--with roles handed out to his students and very strict regulations for keeping their notebooks.
